Freedom Book of the Month for August, 1999:
Don't Shoot the Bastards (Yet): 101 More Ways to Salvage Freedom
by Claire Wolfe
Loompanics Unlimited, 249 pp., softcover, $15.95
As the title indicates, Claire Wolfe hasn't (yet) gone over to the "nuke'em til they glow, then shoot'em in the dark" crowd. If ever there was a president of the Monkey Wrench Gang, though, she'd be a cinch for election on the first ballot. As it is, she'll just have to settle for First Lady of Liberty.
This book is full of constructive suggestions on how to confuse, torment, and embarrass the revenuers and their ilk:
The entire book is a paean to doing the right thingand getting away with it.
If it is somewhat general, it makes up for it by pointing the reader to numerous information sources on the topics it addresses. Wolfe covers everything from Web sites full of encryption and steganography software to where to find a good shooting instructor.
The best thing about this book, though, is Claire Wolfe's inimitable style. Readers of her column in WorldNetDaily won't be disappointed, and those unfamiliar with her work won't find a better introduction. Don't Shoot the Bastards (Yet) is Wolfe at her best: at turns optimistic and pessimistic, but always in good humor and rare form.
