Time to start making that list
It's that time of the year again: Thanksgiving week, when our
thoughts turn to home and family and friends and what the heck to
buy them for Christmas this year.
Why wait until Friday? Let's start looking for freedom-oriented gifts
to give our loved ones this year, as well as getting our _own_ gift
lists ready (so our loved ones won't give us another reindeer tie or
Santa sleep shirt).
Let's get the shameless promotion out of the way: The Free-
Market.Net Shop is a handy gateway to online stores with which
we have affiliate agreements. You can do your online Christmas
shopping -- at no extra cost -- and simultaneously put something
under _our_ tree. Whether it's a paperback book or two round-trip
tickets to Newark, we've got you covered. We've even got our own
Cafe Press store with logoed FMN merchandise.
But we've got more:
Have you seen Free-Market.Net's directory of Merchandise and
Book catalogs? Why waste time with a search engine when FMN's
own directory has a list of oodles of book catalogs on everything
from politics to gun rights, a wide variety merchandise from t-shirts
to tote bags to coffee cups, posters, and even stuffed animals from
freedom-oriented organizations? What better place to spend your
money than in the freedom community?
Your freedom-oriented gift will not only help educate your loved
ones, show them your true "colors" (in case you've been hiding that
freedom loving self in the closet), but your purchase will bring much-
needed funds to your favorite organization or author.
For the readers on your list (or for a great hint for your spouse or
significant other) check out Freedom Book of the Month for reviews
of freedom oriented books and links to purchase them, a different
book every month. (And while you're there cast your vote for
Freedom Book of the Year.)
Also, check out your favorite Free-Market.Net partner organization
(if you have just one -- out of 142, it's difficult to choose. Most have
gift lists, books, merchandise and subscriptions that would make
memorable gifts.
For a selection of really cool gift ideas from my friend Claire Wolfe,
ranging from privacy type computer stuff for the geeks on your list
to "make your own ID" kits, take a look at "Santa goes high tech in
Hardeeville" and "What Santa's Bringing Good Little Outlaws This
Year."
If any of y'all out there have a really great suggestion that you'd like
to share with the list, send it to me, and I'll pass it on ...
Meanwhile, everyone have a great turkey day, and remember that
Thanksgiving is truly a paean to the free market: "The Producer's
Holiday." Have an extra slice of pumpkin pie while you work on
your freedom gift lists.
Til next week
For freedom
Mary Lou
